Can I quote a re-roof as one fixed price and still bill extras like rotten battens?

Yes. Quote the re-roof as a fixed or quoted job. When you find rotten battens or a failed flashing, raise the extra work as its own quoted job so the customer can accept it in the portal. Each job carries its own invoice, so the extra is billed separately rather than lost in the roof price.

How do I give a price from the ladder before I have been in the loft?

Send an estimate. Tick "Estimate only" on the quote and it goes out marked as an estimate with its own terms, so the customer has a figure while you wait for a dry day to strip a section. The firm quote follows, and you see when they open it and are notified when they accept.

Does ProWorks handle the CIS reverse charge when I work for a main contractor?

Yes. Mark the invoice as reverse charge and it shows the VAT for the contractor to account for, with the reverse charge wording, while your domestic customers are invoiced with VAT as normal. Download the invoices CSV and your accountant has the income records in one file, reverse charge invoices included.

Can I keep the customer informed when rain pushes their roof back?

Drag the roof to a new day and whoever is assigned picks the change up, and the customer can follow the job in their portal. Every job carries its address, so when a dry day opens up you can pull the nearest work into it rather than losing the day. A quick call to the customer and the week is back together.

Can my labourers log their hours without seeing what I charge?

Yes. A Standard user is £15 a month and sees their jobs, works through their assignments, logs time and requests leave; quotes and invoices are not part of that role. Their hours land on the job, so day rate work is invoiced from time actually logged and on a priced roof you see the true labour cost.
